Making a Difference Together

At WILA, we believe in the power of giving back. Our commitment to creating positive change goes beyond our everyday work, extending into the heart of the communities we serve. Through WILA’s Charity initiatives, we aim to make a difference in the lives of those in need, one act of kindness at a time.

WILA’s Charity program is more than just a page on our website; it’s a reflection of our core values. We are committed to giving back, fostering inclusivity, and supporting initiatives that address the most pressing issues in our society. We believe that a better future is possible when we work together.

Throughout 2024, WILA is committed to supporting the charity Homeless Oxfordshire through a series of events aimed at making a positive impact on the lives of those in need.

We recognise the importance of community support and are dedicated to playing our part in addressing homelessness in Oxfordshire. From fundraisers to awareness campaigns, WILA will be actively involved in initiatives designed to provide assistance and support to the homeless population, reaffirming our commitment to social responsibility and making a meaningful difference in our local community.

Details of our support coming soon!

In 2022, the dedicated team at WILA embraced an extraordinary challenge – the National Three Peaks Challenge, a demanding endeavor that entailed scaling the highest peaks of Scotland, England, and Wales within a mere 24 hours.

On the 17th of September, the team embarked on this formidable journey with a purpose beyond personal achievement. Their motivation stemmed from supporting a local charity close to their hearts: Helen & Douglas House. This remarkable organisation serves as a sanctuary for terminally ill children and their families, offering round-the-clock care in a nurturing atmosphere.

Helen & Douglas House is not just a hospice; it’s a haven where families find solace, laughter, and the opportunity to create precious memories during their final moments together. The hospice caters to children up to the age of 18, encompassing parents, siblings, and grandparents, providing vital support during the most challenging phase of their lives.

The Three Peaks Challenge, spanning a total walking distance of 23 miles and an ascent of 3064 meters, was not merely a test of physical endurance for the WILA team; it was a testament to their unwavering commitment to easing the burden of families facing unimaginable circumstances. Through their efforts, WILA stood in solidarity with Helen & Douglas House, offering both financial support and a profound gesture of compassion to those in need.

In 2021, the dedicated team at WILA Lighting embarked on an extraordinary journey to support a cause close to our hearts. With the understanding that 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem in any given year, we were inspired to rally behind Oxfordshire Mind, an organization that tirelessly aids over 30,000 individuals dealing with mental health challenges annually.

Oxfordshire Mind’s mission is to champion good mental health through the provision of high-quality services and advocating for positive change in our community. Their wide range of services includes housing support, talking therapies, benefits advice, a confidential and free information line, life-enhancing courses such as ‘practical ways to wellbeing,’ invigorating physical activity programs, invaluable volunteering opportunities, and a network of over 60 peer-support groups conducted each week.

To demonstrate our unwavering commitment, we accepted the challenge of the Chiltern 50, a gruelling 50km hike with a 920m elevation gain that commenced and concluded in Henley on September 25th, 2021. This challenging endeavour was undertaken with the hope of making a meaningful impact in the lives of those facing mental health challenges and supporting the invaluable work of Oxfordshire Mind.
